The North Wales Africa Society was created to bring together families of African origin living in north Wales and to encourage cultural exchange between those of African and those of Welsh ancestry. It is supported by Race Council Cymru.
Casia Wiliam is a former Bardd Plant Cymru and author of multiple books for this age group. She won the 2021 Welsh-language Primary Tir na n-Og award for Sw Sara Mai (Y Lolfa), and was shortlisted again the following year for Sara Mai a Lleidr y Neidr (Y Lolfa). She has been particularly commended for her sensitive treatment of issues of race and identity.
An exceptionally experienced children’s book illustrator, Jac Jones’ talent and appeal cannot be in doubt. He has won the Tir na n-Og award an incredible four times and he has been responsible for a number of illustrated masterpieces over the years, including Penillion y Plant and Trysorfa T Llew Jones, which show his ability to create the perfect visual landscape for poems and stories alike.
