From some of Ireland’s most arresting ancient ecclesiastical sites such as beautiful Glendalough in the Wicklow mountains to once-powerful monastic centres such as Tipperary’s Rock of Cashel and Offaly’s Clonmacnoise, from eye-catching towers perched looking out to sea like the one at Ardmore in county Waterford to tantalising remains like that at Roscam in county Galway, ROUND TOWERS OF IRELAND features over 40 intriguing towers. Each with their own distinctive slender, tapered shape, some still with their conical tops, and unusual features such as accompanying high crosses, grave slabs and stone carvings – all echoing with stories to tell.
