Iain R. Thomson is the author of three books, all of them vivid depictions of some of the wildest and most remote parts of the Highlands. A well-known figure in the Highlands and islands, he currently lives in Cannich in Inverness-shire.
Iain Thomson was born in Inverness, but was raised and educated near Liverpool. On leaving school in the late 1940s, he returned to Scotland to work on a farm in Aberdeenshire. He is the author of three books, all of them vivid depictions of some of the wildest and most remote parts of the Highlands. He currently lives outside Inverness.
Described by the Los Angeles Times Book Review as 'the best nature writer working in Britain today', Jim Crumley was born and grew up in Dundee where the skeleton of the Tay Whale hung from the ceiling of the city museum and haunted his childhood dreams. He has written 23 books to date and has made numerous documentaries for BBC Radio 4, Radio Scotland and Wildlife on One.
